Regression Watch
Three records facing schedule pressure
These teams had a friendlier forward schedule last season than they do now, or face an unusually difficult outside draw. Regression means the 2025 record is less likely to repeat. It does not automatically create an Under, especially when the sportsbook already lowered the line.
Record Regression, Saved Over
Jacksonville: a lower ceiling still clears 8.5
13 2025 wins
8.5 July 20 total
#8 market SOS
#20 roster
Jacksonville jumped from 8 wins in 2024 to 13 in 2025 while carrying the 27th-hardest forward schedule. The July board moves the Jaguars into our top eight toughest, and the non-division opponents average 9.14 wins. The model already accounts for a drop to 10.80 wins, which still supports the saved Over 8.5. The harder path is a confidence and price warning, not an automatic switch to the Under.
Regression Risk
Atlanta: the outside slate changes the math
8 2025 wins
6.5 July 20 total
#4 market SOS
#26 roster
Atlanta's divisional burden is ordinary, but its 11 non-division games average 9.23 projected wins. That moves the Falcons from 29th-hardest last year to fourth in our July 20 raw market ranking. The July 6.5 total looks low beside eight 2025 wins, yet the roster and schedule leave very little margin. Reprice before treating that low number as value.
Ceiling Pressure
Buffalo: elite roster, unforgiving road
12 2025 wins
10.5 July 20 total
#12 market SOS
#6 roster
Buffalo remains a top-six roster, but no team has a harder non-division opponent average in this snapshot. The first four opponents average 10.0 wins, and the Bills draw six games against teams lined at 10.5 or higher. Their July 10.5 total is reachable; the schedule simply makes an Over position fragile unless the price creates enough compensation.
